ED Glass Objective Lenses

Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass virtually eliminates chromatic aberration (color fringing), which as you may know is a distracting visual effect that is produced when different wavelengths of light disperse while transiting optical lenses. The Regal ED binoculars provide images with vibrant, true-to-life color by reducing this dispersion. These high quality lenses from Celestron deliver noticeably brighter and sharper images, compared to non-ED binoculars or competitor ED binoculars.

Flat Field Technology

The Regal line also features flat field optical technology, which counter-balances the normal visual field curvature ocnvex lenses naturally show. This gives you an expansive linear image all the way to the edges of the field of view.

Coatings and Prisms

You will be gifted with fully multi-coated optics from the Regal ED binocular line. This means that all air-to-glass surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflectivity coatings, allowing the maximum amount of light to pass through the glass to your eye. The prisms inside Regal ED are carefully designed with high quality BaK-4 glass with phase coatings applied. This leads to light being reflected off their internal faces and passed through to the eye. This powerful combination maximizes light transmission for remarkably bright, highly detailed images. The ED objective lenses further enhance these features, especially in low light conditions (dawn or dusk).

The Body

Not only do you have the pleasure of peering through beautiful, high tech lenses, but the well-balanced and ergonomic industrial design of the body of these binoculars protects them from damage without weighing you down. Crafted with a magnesium alloy, these binoculars can withstand even the toughest outdoor conditions. Both eyeglass wearers and non-eyeglass wearers can comfortably view through the Regal ED, thanks to the durable metal twist-up eyecups. You can twist through multiple click stops to find the ideal position for you. These binoculars are also fully waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging of lenses!

Ways to Observe

These binoculars are extremely versatile and will adapt to any way you want to view through them. You can carry your Regal ED with the included padded strap or the cross-body harness for your hiking and boating adventures. It is also tripod-adaptable, allowing you to mount it on any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece). You will have to purchase a tripod adapter separately. The included one-piece eyepiece cover keep rain, dust, and other substances off your lenses in the field and protect them while in storage. Additionally, the tetherable objective covers provide more protection for the Regal’s all-important objective ED lenses. These binoculars also include a premiere quality hard shell case for secure storage and transport.
